Program

Middle/Long Distance (800m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m)

 

Coach Azra is a seasoned marathon runner, completing her first marathon in 2002, and has been an avid long distance runner ever since. She enjoys the training, the racing, and the challenges involved at the marathon and half-marathon level. Her running career has taken her on adventures across the globe, having accomplished 17 marathons, including qualifying for and competing in the Boston Marathon already 4 times. In the off season, she takes on the other distances including the ½ marathon, 10K and 5K to keep limber and to tune up. Azra has been successful in competition and has placed in events from 5K to half marathon (First overall female in the Calgary Gorilla run in 2005). Azra knows first-hand the importance of balancing work, family, and a running schedule. She currently works in an advocate role where she supports and provides direction to her clients and team; and her career in the insurance and risk management sector spans 18 years. Azra believes the best way to spend time with her family is to go out and explore nature and the world, and can be often found in the rockies out on weekend treks with her daughter in tow. Azra’s inherent motivation, enthusiasm, and passion for running as well as her practical coaching style will facilitate athletes to develop their own core foundation and mental agility required to run the long race. She is looking forward to helping athletes maximize their running potential and to venture on a mission to obtain their personal best in running and in life.

Azra is currently enrolled in the NCPP certification program.

The fall outdoor season starts Wednesday, September 13thMeet at 5:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Hill, on the west side of University Drive N.W. at 13th Avenue.
