Athlete Development

Richard Gallimore is a former sprinter who started track with the Calgary Spartans at the age of 16 & has competed in numerous indoor & outdoor Provincial championships, as well as the Alberta Summer Games. His main events were the 100m, 200m, & 400m. In grade 10 he became the High School City champion in the 200m running 23.69 his first year of track. A couple of years later at Alberta Indoor Provincials in Edmonton he became the 60m Bronze medalist as well as the 200m Silver medalist for the Junior age group division.

Richard took Physical Education at Mount Royal College for 2 years before transferring over to the University of Calgary to acquire a Kinesiology degree. In 2019 Richard returned to the Spartans as an assistant coach for the Athletic Development program, in 2020 he moved from Assistant coach to Coach alongside Calli Obrien who he learned from, & in 2022 became the main Athletic Development coach. He took a year off of coaching due to an Achilles injury, but with his Achilles improving he has returned to coaching the AD group.
