Juerg has coached Track & Field for more than 40 years, starting to coach some athletes in his club in native country in Europe while still competing himself. He specialized in hurdles (short & long) as well as 400m, but competed at least once a year in a multi-event (decathlon) and this is where his philosophy in coaching comes from: versatility makes and supports a specialist.
Juerg’s versatility is also reflected in the different sport he has been coaching in the past, which includes skiing, ballroom dancing, volleyball & soccer.
After moving to Canada he became involved in coaching his sons soccer teams, but was always drawn back to Track & Field, and as his boys were looking for different Sports, the choice was easy. Juerg started to coach with CALTAF in 2009, and first built the Provincial Development Group, which morphed into the current Multi/Combined Events Group.
Currently Juerg coaches the Multi/Combined Events group putting a lot of emphasis on developing the technical skills of young athletes. His goal is that each and every athlete has fun and takes pride in his/her accomplishments whenever they compete and reach a new personal best.
